İstanbul University; our source of pride with its historical accumulation, intellectual infrastructure, the power, and capacity of the scientific knowledge it offers to humanity, is an educational institution that we are all proud of. Faculty of Communication was founded in 1950 and this year it is exactly 70 years old. Therefore, our Faculty of Communication, which celebrates its age; here it leans on such a giant plane tree, feeds on a deep-rooted experience, leads the field of Communication with the achievements it has shown for many years.

Our thousands of students; who we have trained through our lectures in Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Television, Radio and Cinema, are performing important tasks in a wide variety of areas of the Communication sector. We want to point out that we are proud of all of them. On the other hand, the culture and innovative vision of İstanbul University Faculty of Communication add strength to the communication sector thanks to them.

The most important aspect that countries, institutions, and brands need in the 21st century is to have a “valuable idea”. The idea alone is not enough, but it is also important to be able to write a meaningful story with this valuable idea.


"Having a valuable idea" is about creativity, originality, experimenting with different ways and methods, that means, ‘inventing something’. Turning original ideas into a meaningful story, building a vision of the future, attracting the masses with it, convincing the public also stands in front of every country as a goal that must be achieved consequently.

İstanbul University Faculty of Communication is a place that pursues, puts big effort, thinks, investigates, invents a “big idea” that is valuable for every country. The ‘right place’ to turn an idea into a meaningful story is also our Communication Faculty. For instance, we sometimes take our place in a success story as a motion picture, radio show, sometimes a newspaper news/article, or an international scientific project.

İstanbul University Faculty of Communication is a place where Art, Culture, Science, Education are constantly talked about, researched, discussed, innovation is followed and courage and self-confidence flourish in the end.

İstanbul University Faculty of Communication; has the capacity to make a strategic contribution to the meaningful and successful acceptance of Turkey’s success story, which Turkey will write in the 21st century. Our precious Faculty with international qualifications, outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, lean on our 70 years of experience. And we perform scientific projects, which precedes the community to contribute to our vision are the most important indicators of the potential we have.

As a graduate, teacher, and the Dean of this distinguished Faculty and as someone who has worked in the communication sector for many years, I would like to express that the Faculty of Communication of İstanbul University is a very valuable treasure that Turkey has. Keeping in mind that in the new century, the world has been reshaped as “communication-oriented”, digitalization has changed the rules of the game, and the process defined as the "new normal" after the global epidemic has been as communication-oriented, it will be seen how valuable the accumulation of our Faculty of Communication is.

To use this precious accumulation for the development and strengthening of our country and to contribute to the happiness of our society is a source of pride for our Faculty. Here, I thank all our members who have owned this precious accumulation of treasure and who have worked very hard to develop it every day, and I express my gratitude.
