İstanbul University Faculty of Communication Dean’s handover ceremony was recently held. İstanbul University Department of Corporate Communication Coordinator and the Professor of Public Relations and Publicity Department, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan became the new Dean of the Faculty of Communication. At the ceremony, Vice Rector of İstanbul University and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Haluk Alkan and the Dean of Communication Faculty at the 2017-2020 Term, Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu were also present.
İstanbul University Communication Faculty Dean's Handover Ceremony was held at the Faculty of Communication Dean's office. The first speech of the ceremony was given by Vice Rector of İstanbul University and the Deputy Dean of Communication Faculty; Prof. Dr. Haluk Alkan. Prof. Dr. Alkan stated that the Faculty of Communication is the first school in our country in the communication field. Prof. Dr. Alkan also said, “Our Faculty of Communication is a faculty with its own traditions and dynamics. These dynamics will continue from now on as it happened in the history. Our Faculty will take strong steps forward together with the professors coming from this tradition.”
“Our Support Will Carry Our Faculty Further”
Prof. Dr. Alkan thanked Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu for his contributions. Prof. Dr. Alkan said that they will give all kinds of support to move the Faculty of Communication forward with their own dynamics as the management and added: “I wish success to our teacher Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan, who took over the task today, who is a very valuable name in the field of communication and whose works we follow very closely. As İstanbul University, we always support our Faculty. We wish that the new period becomes beneficial.”
“İstanbul University Has a Deep-rooted Tradition”
After Prof. Dr. Özkan, The Dean of the Faculty of Communication at the 2017-2020 academic year and the Faculty Member of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu made his speech. Emphasizing that the Faculty of Communication has a deep-rooted tradition, Prof. Dr. Yolcu said, “İstanbul University has a tradition and good manners from its corridors to its walls. We have completed our term as a Dean in this deep-rooted institution. I wish Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan success in his new assignment.” Noting that a very good system is progressing in the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Dr. Yolcu pointed out that it is necessary to look forward without looking back. Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu said: “It is important that all work is done in a transparent and democratic manner, with good human relations. We always support our Faculty as well as our University. My dreams about our University and what I want to do is not finished; it will continue. That's why we will always do our best to support our University and the Faculty of Communication. I wish good luck to Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan. I hope all these good works will continue in this beautiful environment with Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan.”
“We Will Work for the Better in a Democratic, Transparent and Open Environment”
Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu completed his statements, and İstanbul University Department of Corporate Communication Coordinator and the Public Relations and Publicity Department Faculty Member, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan made a speech. Emphasizing that İstanbul University is a very valuable University, Prof. Dr. Özkan said: “İstanbul University is a place where I am both happy to be a graduate and a member, and I am honored. We will do whatever we need to do and whatever we can do for that. We will benefit from the teamwork. In a democratic environment, transparently; we will work to do better in an environment where thinking, speaking, listening and criticizing take place.” Stating that they have a very qualified team in the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Dr. Özkan said, “I know very well the efforts of Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu. He tried to maintain a scientific and democratic structure and I thank him for all his efforts. We will always ask him to contribute to the development of our Faculty from now on, and we will continue to do very good works in cooperation.”
"We Look Behind Us Only to Remember and Develop Beautiful Things"
After Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan, İstanbul University Secretary General, Metin Küçük made his speech. Küçük said, “We, as the administration, have never looked back. We looked behind us only to remember the good things that the previous ones did and to be able to contribute something in it. We will continue to work like this. I thank Prof. Dr. Ergün Yolcu. I also wish success to Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan in his new position.”
After the speeches, the Dean's Office handover was held. Prof. Dr. Haluk Alkan delivered the task to Prof. Dr. Abdullah Özkan. At the ceremony, Communication Faculty Secretary Selim Eker and Communication Faculty Vice Dean Dr. Assistant Professor Ümit Sarı were also present.
